Greetings from the People of Earth, 2010. [1:45, Dimensions Variable] Produced for the World Science Festival, 2010. Montage/meditation on the NASA Voyager Golden Record recordings, our loneliness, and the herculean, courageous task of SETI.
The Evolution of Life in 60 Seconds, 2009. [0:60, Dimensions Variable] An experiment in scale: By condensing 4.6 billion years of history into a minute, the video is a self-contained timepiece. Like a specialized clock, it gives a sense of perspective. Everything from the formation of the Earth, to the Cambrian Explosion, to the evolution of mice and squirrels is proportionate to everything else, displaying humankind as a blip, almost indiscernible in the layered course of history. Commissioned by SEED Magazine.
Glittertext Modernism, 2008. [Website] Modernist texts rendered in glamorized, nullified script. In a format which privileges form over meaning, the Modernist style (hyper-referential, imagist, common, and fragmented) is made thus new in the "Waste Land" of the digital.
OK TO GO, 2008. [4:08 Loop, Dimensions Variable] Daisy-chain of Hyper Space scenes from films.
Digital Decay, 2007. [2:47, Dimensions Variable] Digital degradation created by animating the process of saving an image file in incrementally lower-quality formats over hundreds of times. Quote taken from Douglas Davis' The Work of Art in the Age of Digital Reproduction.
